It’s not every day that we get to work on a good cause that’s cause for celebration, but some days that’s most definitely the case — and this is one of those cases. “We Drink Water” emerged when a couple of pro snowboarders wanted to push back against the energy drink movement taking over their sport. Although snowboarding is heavily funded by these extreme energy drink giants, Austin Smith and Bryan Fox wanted to take a stance. Not only do they sell merchandise boldly stating their position, but they give back in some wicked cool ways (not to mention that 10% of their “Drink Water” profits go to water.org).
A while ago we were given the opportunity to work on a short film titled “Pathology”, with the utterly awesome filmmaker and photographer Liam Gallagher (not that Liam Gallagher). The film, made in collaboration with We Drink Water, is everything you hoped it would be: all about getting air and focusing on the human element that snowboarding would be incomplete without. Having some of the freshest pow around, these fearless riders had the freedom to go all out and shred like no other.
Dig1’s Chip Sloan (a.k.a. the illusive “Snowfield Cowboy”) was hyped when he got his hands slash ears on this project. Especially since it was the heat of summer when he worked on it, nothing looked better than zipping down the mountain breathing in that crisp snowcapped air. We’re still holding out hope that somehow this snow-season can be saved for us here in the Northwest with a late season dumping, so meditate on “Pathology” with us for a minute, and think snowy thoughts.
