Contain yourself. At least until tomorrow. The 11th Annual Filmed By Bike Film Festival begins this Saturday April 20th at the Clinton Street Theater, continuing until Tuesday the 23rd, and it’s poised to be a good one.
Among the films being premiered this year is a 17 minute piece by NW Documentary founder Ian McCluskey, Lilah Cady and Jenn Byrne titled “Bare As You Dare“. This gutsy documentary gives a behind-the-scenes look into Portland’s World Naked Bike Ride, the world’s largest organized naked bike ride. Founded in 2002, the PDX WNBR is looking to break the record again on June 8th, 2013 — to learn the history, purpose and ways you can support the World Naked Bike Ride, visit pdxwnbr.org.
“Bare As You Dare” follows several first time riders, event organizers and a cancer survivor through their experience during the 2012 World Naked Bike Ride, which just-so-happens to be our own Ryan Mauk’s fourth year participating in the event. But before you distract yourself / waste time trying to find him, we’re almost 100% that he doesn’t appear in the film itself. In true small-naked-world fashion, last week Ryan was given the opportunity to work closely with Ian and the NW Documentary crew to create the final audio mix for the film, which was particularly exciting because he is such a big proponent of the ride. Believe you me.
The WNBP is definitely a Portlandia phenomenon, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of the documentation process. Don’t miss you’re chance to see this on the big screen.
